Violations: Head and Foot Gear Q1

A man is forbidden from covering the head and the face, and a woman is forbidden only from covering her face. This means that no cloth should touch the head and face in ihraam. It does _not_ mean that a detached covering cannot be used.
It is important to note that this law is independant of the law of hijaab (hiding the face and head from non-mahrams). Hijaab is an independant obligation on women. Hiding the face from non-mahrams is waajib (mandatory) according to all four madh-habs.
(Hijaab in Sharee`ah does not refer to the scarf is miscontrued by muslims living in some western countries. Hijaab is a general term that refers to a woman covering her entire self from non-mahrams. See: Surah Ahzaab, verse: 53).
